Subject: Quatro Julie.....

Happy pre birth of our independance position. Break away from Britain. That's the spirit.

I am dumping yet another recycle trash bag into big blue plastic can at curb. 5:14 am. Dawn not yet arrived. Cat outside. Classical music videos on from our city pbs station, channel 35. Will read at least index of elementary college algebra text I picked up for free in donation box before door of newly renovated Mar Vista Library, Will return and bring back two DVDs I got there and will pick out three others.
Adjusting budget move, watch all those movies I didn't pay to see, and missed
so far. Some good ones.

Note how mix of people in our melting pot country is changing. More Asians in the schools, more poverty in central decaying city areas. Jobs changing in character, needing some computer knowledge, middle class dress and behavior, less union manual labor lifetime jobs with benefits. Our auto companies supporting rich life style for managers, forgot major activity: make a good reliable long lasting vehicle to sell. Hence, no sales, and Asian mfg. taking over, working on making good product, improving just a little on basic working platforms, lesson pioneered by Volkswagon for years.

Day of meeting family and friends. Eating bad public food: hot dogs, barbeque, hamburgers, potato salad, chips, beer. Hard to factor in good forest food into this, except as 'chasers' for the heavy fat and flour and salt leaden public fare: cheese, dried fish, fruit, soy, walnuts, tomato paste, olive oil, raw colored vegetables, nuts, avacados, berries. That's the goal for this week, jam in some crunchies and some extra movement. Re arrange those sock drawers.

My personal treat: I bought a wooden park bench from China for $25.00 on sale at Big Five Sporting Goods Store. Assembly next two days, before heat of afternoon makes me succumb. Make another horizontal storage area next to my outside table underneath the awning in back yard. Home improvement. Time for some winnowing of various tools and things, sucked out from my rusted tool shed which next house door renovators kindly ripped out from my yard for free a month ago.

May just treat myself to a side of ribs, on sale at local market. Aren't we lucky not to be fighting a war on our own land for now? This good fortune not shared by many lands on the planet, where local humans still haven't adopted the civilized approach to living, i.e. helping one's neighbors and making one's local governments function better and more humanely. People still killing one another over ideas, i.e. politics or religions. People still thinking possession of land important to solve local economic or social problems. When will we ever get over this? We are world economy and people with specialists at differing locations. We should all function now as world society and forget this family tribal neighboorhood race religion class juvenilisms. Looking down, we note our feet on our space ship, the earth, where we stand as primates, the big picture, not as caucasians, republicans, christians, africans, asians, third worlders, intellectuals, workers, owners, breeders, growers, etc.

Chance is there for us to take one small step for the species this holiday and not just stomp out the campsite again with chauvinistic enthusiam.

Happy Fourth Of July.

Stillness promotes acceptance of change, and learning.
