Never deduced what
you counsel the students about. Do they come to you for academic counseling,
from psychologist with the pervasive immaturity position, failing out of
school? How do you encourage a depressed student to actually
suck it up, go deep into and explore the pain, and get results by changing his
behavior, little by little?

Welcome to Time's
progress acting on you. Daughter to be married. Congratulations. I have one
that did that, and other just remains on deck, probably for life.
Spamorama. Did you
go and get good recepies? I think this was first universal military food.
Taxes in. Refund
deposited. Another yearly milestone.
Plan to try
teaching next week.
Reading top math
history book, Honors Class, about lives of people who solved Hilbert's 10
famous problems.
Car back working.
Will get bill next week.
Could you make
checklist or book about most common questions and concern of your college
counselees? Your ace outlining
daughter lawyer, could help you prepare it. Lawyers love lists and categories,
etc.
How is life with
marriage partner two? I could only manage one of them, but did have several
other long term relationships, so
I guess I have been married, at least on weekends, for say over 25 years. Was
never a permanent antidote to my
needy self, but did allow me to have the kids, my greatest accomplishment.

Kudos, or as I am saying these days, Kudroids
Good article.
Some suggestion: write it in reverse order, listing actual
campus changes because of your special program, i.e. more kids staying in
majors and having a sense of direction. Follow this with you life story, and
how you got where you are, as example of 'life counseling' in practice.
Be sure to give a copy to your daughter Rosa for her
scrapbook. I only saw anything after the deaths of my parents, nothing from my
Mother, and a draft short story by my Dad. My Mother was a fashion plate and
left things as did Imelda Marcos, antique furniture, french perfumes, pairs of
expensive hose, shoes, furs, clothes, etc. Could explain my issures with women,
as I was attracted by their symbols, not them as people, whom I though very
manipulative, dorky, untrustworthy, etc. Good job to you and thanks for
sharing. You could use this article as basis for a counseling manual to be
distributed to every new student: Follow rules, be on time, do everything
asked, ask for help if you are confused, sick, late, or need help, immediately.
